2025 Department Of Transport bursary
Department of Transport (DOT) Bursary guidelines
Who can apply?
- UNEMPLOYED South African citizens
 
- UNISA undergraduate and postgraduate (NQF level 6 to 10) students who have attained an average of at least 50% on their prior academic year of study
 
- Returning beneficiaries must have passed 50% or more on their previous year registered/ funded modules
 
- Only students registered for the following qualifications may apply:
- Undergraduate:
- BCom Transport Economics
 
- BCom Logistics
 
- Diploma in Civil Engineering
 
- Advance Diploma in Civil Engineering
 
 
- Postgraduate:
- Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Transport Economics
 
- Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Logistics
 
- Postgraduate Diploma in Transport and Logistics
 
- Master’s Degrees (Transport related)
 
- Doctoral Degree (Transport related)
 
 
 
What does the bursary cover?
- Tuition fees
 
- Prescribed textbooks
 
- Access to library services
 
- Stipend
 
- Research costs( to be negotiated on merit)
 
How to apply?
- Complete the application form

- No incomplete application form will be accepted
 
 
- Supporting documents
- Certified ID document (not older than 6 months)
 
- Proof of residency
 
- Proof of registration and/or University acceptance letter
 
- Parents or guardian’s proof of income (household income must not exceed R600 000 p.a)
 
- Statement of results or academic record
 
- Certified copy of a valid Senior certificate (if you have completed Grade 12).
 
 
 
- Applications must be sent to mogaslm@unisa.ac.za with their STUDENT NUMBER and “DOT BURSARY APPLICATION” in the subject line
 
-  Only applications sent through the student’s myLife email account will be considered.
 
Please note:
- DOT returning beneficiaries must reapply for funding
 
- The bursary does NOT fund failed/ repeating modules
 
- Students need to check their myLife email account to access the bursary outcome
 
 
- Students with a criminal record, currently employed or self-employed, are not eligible to apply for the grant.
