Students participated actively throughout the session
The university’s Sunnyside Learning Centre is facilitating the 2026 Semester 1 Student Training Programme, an initiative that supports students as they begin their academic journey for the year. This programme forms part of the university’s ongoing commitment to student success, digital inclusion, and academic excellence.
The training sessions are taking place from 3 to 26 February 2026 and are specifically designed to assist students in using the myUnisa online learning platform effectively. As Unisa operates primarily through open distance e-learning, the myUnisa platform plays a critical role in enabling students to access learning materials, communicate with lecturers, submit assignments, and participate in academic activities.
To accommodate students' diverse needs, the Sunnyside Learning Centre offers training in both face-to-face and online formats. In-person sessions are hosted at the Sunnyside Learning Centre, Building 13, 1st Floor, Room 1.08, while online sessions are conducted via Microsoft Teams. All sessions run from 09:00 to 12:00, providing students with ample time to engage with the content and ask questions.
The training programme covers a range of essential topics, including logging in to myUnisa, navigating course modules, accessing study materials, submitting assignments, tracking academic progress, and utilising available student support services. By attending these sessions, students are better prepared to manage their studies independently and confidently in a digital learning environment.
Students are encouraged to book their preferred training sessions in advance using the official booking link or by scanning the QR code provided on the invitation. Booking in advance helps the learning centre manage attendance effectively and ensures that students receive adequate support during the sessions. Early registration is particularly recommended for face-to-face training, as seating capacity is limited.
The success of this training programme is supported by the dedicated efforts of Unisa’s digital learning advisers, who provide guidance and firsthand assistance throughout the sessions. Students requiring additional information or support are encouraged to contact the digital learning advisers via email.
The Sunnyside Learning Centre urges all registered students to take full advantage of this training opportunity. Participation in myUnisa training not only enhances students’ technical skills but also contributes to improved academic performance and a smoother transition into the 2026 academic year.
Through initiatives such as this, Unisa continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering students with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital learning landscape.
