Short biography

Dr Ruth Nombuso (Zanele) Zuma is an early-career academic and researcher specialising in Gender Studies, feminist and decolonial scholarship, and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS). With extensive experience in both basic and higher education, her research focuses on gender-related issues, girl-child education, gender-based violence (GBV), women empowerment, and the role of Indigenous Knowledge Systems in addressing social inequalities within African contexts. Her work is grounded in social justice and community-engaged scholarship, with a strong commitment to advancing inclusive education, transformative research, and the empowerment of marginalised communities.
