Purpose: Syllabus/Content: General language principles: parts of speech and syntax (simple, compound and complex sentences); The origin and development of the Latin language, and an introduction to Latin as inflected/synthetic language; Basic morphology of Latin parts of speech Basic use of Latin parts of speech The moods of Latin verbs Translation of Latin sentences and passages; Etymology: English vocabulary-building with Latin roots, prefixes and suffixes; Basic aspects of ancient Roman history and culture.
