The information desk is available to answer queries and assist both students and staff in searching and locating information resources. Library materials are also returned and checked out at this desk.
The library stock consists of recommended and prescribed material for most structured courses. Students who visit the library may take out books from this stock. Students needing items not available in the East London branch are advised to request such items online using Library catalogue http://oasis.unisa.ac.za or fax a completed request card directly to the Main Library in Pretoria. The fax number is +27 12 429 1828. Only books requested from Pretoria will be posted to the address the student gave to the University when he or she registered. Students, who opted that books be couriered to this branch, will be notified to collect such items at the branch when they have been received.
NB Students who visit the Library are required to have their current valid student cards and an identity document (ID / Drivers License / Passport) with them.
Books in the reserved collection are comprised mostly of prescribed texts that can be loaned out for two hours only.
Limited seating is available in the study area opposite the library.
Return of material
Material requested from the Main Library in Pretoria (Postal collection) may be returned at this branch to be couriered to the main library at no fee to the student.
